The Brisbane Festival starts this weekend with Riverfire!

“Brisbane Festival 2011 will intrigue, delight and inspire with a programme embracing dance, theatre, opera, classical music, visual arts, circus, sideshow and contemporary music,” says visitbrisbane.com.au.

The annual Festival has something for everyone – with an extensive range of both free and ticketed events over the 3 week period.

The Festival’s opening extravaganza, known as ‘Riverfire’, will see more than half a million people converge on Brisbane’s riverbanks to watch the city sky ignite in a continuous burst of spectacular colour and colour – will the fireworks timed to dance along to the music. Riverfire will be held in Brisbane’s city centre on this saturday to kick off the festival.

St Columba’s School Art Show

St Columba’s School, Wilston has recently renovated their hall and next weeked it will be decked with  an amazing collection of artwork from over 50 artists!

The school is holding their biennial Arts Show and  would like to invite family, friends and the community to enjoy the variety of paintings, photography, ceramics, sculpture and jewellery that will be onshow.  Art will be available for purchase from 11am and will continue to be sold at the evening event. From 9pm a live auction will commence with an opportunity to bid for the St Columba’s school children’s class.

DAY EVENT 11am – 4pm

(BBQ lunch till 3pm)

Edible Art Stall, Makedo workshops (pre-booking required), Mask Making Stations, Music by ‘Elbury’ and more!

Enter upon a gold coin donation or present your ticket to the ‘Masked in the Arts’ evening event for free entry.

EVENING EVENT 7pm onwards

  • Complimenatary drink on arrival
