Stafford Heights resident Barbara Tyrell is heading straight for the semi-finals of Brisbane City Council’s Senior Superstars competition, after blitzing her solo performance at the recent heats held at the Geebung RSL.

Barbara sung a Patsy Cline classic, Crazy, which earned her one of just twelve spots in the semis.

“There was some great competition this year so I don’t really know how I’ll go but I’m going to try my hardest,” she said.

At 70, Barbara is no stranger to the spotlight, having made it all the way to the grand finals on two previous occasions, placing 3rd in 2009 and second in 2010.

She also performs with the travelling singing group ‘At Touch of Sparkle’, who she says perform at least two concerts a week.

Barbara said she is looking forward to her act at the semi-finals, which will be held on Sunday August 7^th and the Broncos Leagues Club.

“I love singing ballads and I’ve already met so many new people. It’s so much fun. You forget you’re a senior and it’s great to get out there among people with the same interests,” she said.
